Tough start continues as Rivervalley Rangers seek first win

With three games now played in the Major Sunday Division, Rivervalley Rangers have just recorded a point – against Trinity Donaghmede – after being beaten at Blackrock College on Friday night.

However, it should be pointed out that Rivervalley are yet to play a single game at home as they were on the road for those openers.

They traveled to Stradbrook to take on a Blackrock side playing their first game of the campaign and a still sizeable opener saw the hosts take the lead when awarded a penalty.

Despite a good save from the goalkeeper on the spot, a Blackrock player followed and buried the rebound just five minutes from the end of the half.

Midway through the second half, the hosts doubled their lead with a fantastic finish.

Rangers pulled some out of it shortly after and it was played very well at this point but they just couldn’t find that leveler and later Rock grabbed the visitors on the counter attack to lay down the three dots.

It’s the start of the Major Division, however, and Rivervalley will be hoping some home games will help them put more points on the board.
