Canadian alternative rock band Still Eighteen returns to the capital
Santo Domingo.- The Canadian alternative rock band Still Eighteen is back to perform in the Capital at Blows Saturday January 15and! The group are delighted to present their new single “Piazza Cavour” which was released on December 3rd.rd.
This Zeppelin-style banger was created on what the band calls “a haunted ski trip.” Members of Still Eighteen include former Platinum Blonde & Trixie Goes Hollywood frontman Joey (vocals, guitar and co-songwriter), as well as his wife Karen (drums) and daughter Samantha (bass guitar, vocals and co- songwriter).
Still Eighteen describes writing “Piazza Cavour” as an otherworldly experience.
Haunted by the night terrors of witches since childhood, Joey felt an eerie energy during a ski trip to the Italian Alps where his father was born. Joey was waiting for the bus in the beautiful tourist town of Bormio, when he felt the presence of witches around him. He was struck by the inexplicable knowing that something horrible had happened right where he was standing. On this day, a dive into Bormio’s 3,000-year history revealed that 43 women were hanged and burned alive for witchcraft between the 16th and 18th centuries. Joey took his guitar and the song was written that afternoon.
“It was as if the spirits of these women wanted me to tell their story.”
“We’re so happy the song and video are getting such a positive response, especially in Italy where they’re featured on dozens of music blogs, magazines and radio stations!”
