Aussie rock band Ocean Alley spends $2.35million on seven-bedroom home near Byron Bay

The six members of Australian rock band Ocean Alley have bought a country estate near Byron Bay on the north coast of New South Wales.

Hit creators Happy Sad bought the seven-bedroom, five-bathroom ranch-style spread in Middle Pocket for $2.35 million, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Covering eight hectares, the Tropical Retreat is located in the Northern Rivers region approximately 22km inland from the town of Byron Bay.

Hailing from Sydney’s northern beaches, Ocean Alley is made up of Baden Donegal (vocals, guitar), Angus Goodwin (lead guitar), Lach Galbraith (keyboard, vocals), Mitch Galbraith (guitar), Nic Blom (bass) and Tom O’Brien (drums).

The band released their latest single Home on September 14, ahead of the release of their new album Low Altitude Living on October 14.

The complex comprises three main buildings, including a separate studio.

Built with high ceilings, the main wooden farmhouse is full of rustic charm, with a large stone fireplace and a spacious living room.

Other features of the property include a stream and a waterhole.

The area around Byron Bay has become increasingly popular with artists, filmmakers, musicians and actors over the past decade.

The Hemsworth brothers purchased large plots of land around town.

Chris, Liam and Luke’s total investment in the area is estimated at over $100 million across 300 acres – and their portfolio continues to grow.

Musician Tones and I, real name Toni Watson, spent $3.3 million on two properties on the outskirts of Byron Bay in 2020.

Singer and actress Natalie Bassingthwaighte and her husband Cameron McGlinchey have paid $2.15 million for property in the area.

Ocean Alley has had an impressive trajectory since its inception in 2011.

The group had four songs in Triple J’s coveted Hottest 100 countdown and landed the No. 1 spot with their single Confidence.
